Star Wars + LEGO + MC. Escher by a 16 Year Old!!

Well, now this is super awesome! And by a 16 year old! That's amazing. My older son wants to be a Lego developer when he grows up so this was super cool to show him.

Vermeesch crafted a one-foot-by-one-foot block modeled after M.C. Escher's "Relativity." But Vermeesch gave his an awesome "Star Wars" theme. It's amazing. It's crazy. Forgive us, we're babbling. Behold "Star Wars Relativity V2!"
People can get pretty wild with LEGOs, but this creation from 16-year-old Paul Vermeesch is something else entirely. It's brilliant. It's amazing. It's the kind of thing nerds drool over.




"This particular model took just over six months to get from brain to bricks," Vermeesh said. "Normally, a model of this size wouldn't take quite that long to construct, but in this case, a significant amount of planning was required before I could jump into the build process." He estimates that he used somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 bricks.


When asked why he chose to mimic Escher, Vermeesh responded, "Escher's work is known for its depictions of architectural impossibilities, but "Relativity" is one of the few that can, despite its complexities, actually be built."


Though he's been building with LEGOs since he was three, this is Vermeesh's most popular creation yet. "It has been blogged on numerous sites. Because Escher is a relatively obscure artist in the grand scheme of things, I wasn't expecting the response that the model has garnered."


Vermeesh began by "replicating Escher's work on paper" so that he could "get a feel for the complex geometry." He continued: "I built a rough scale test in Lego's Digital Designer and first realized how many bricks would be required that I didn't have. By that point there was no turning back, and I began ordering the bricks I would need. It was also at this point that I decided I wanted the model to be lit from the inside. This complicated things a little bit, but the added effort most definitely paid off."

Voice of Ursula (Little Mermaid) - Nearly 70 years in Hollywood and counting!!


You probably know her as Ursula in The Little Mermaid (which is REALLY hard to find these days, btw!), but clearly she's done a million other things. What a huge career! Check out her IMDB below!

Born in 1927, started acting in 1948 and she's STILL working in 2012!!! That's awesome!

Voice-over work in Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, & Kingdom Hearts 3D! My Neighbor Totoro. She even had a little role in Bridesmaids!


She should get a lifetime achievement award or something! Where you at, Hollywood?! Disney?!

Michael Bay's "NINJA TURTLES" Shut Down by Paramount because of script!


Part of me is ecstatic and I desperately hope they make the script something other than what it seems like it was about. Part of me is very sad that I have to wait to see a new TMNT movie!

UPDATED: The film was set for a December 2013 release. A source close the production says the movie will come out in May 2014. 
Paramount Pictures has shut down a planned reboot of the Ninja Turtles franchise, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The effects-heavy film, which was in preproduction in Vancouver, was set for release in December 2013. That date is being pushed to May 2014, according to sources. 
The issue is said to be the script. Paramount has delayed several big movies from this year to 2013, including G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Brad Pitt’s World War Z, leaving it with a spotty pipeline for the current year. Now it has halted work on its planned holiday movie for 2013, temporarily laying off preproduction staff and informing those prepping the film that the work stoppage is "indefinite," according to sources. Another source close to the production says the movie has been pushed by ten weeks. 
A Paramount rep would not immediately comment. 
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing and Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) is set to direct from a script by Kevin Eastman and Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. Other key players include Bourne franchise line producer Denis Stewart and second-unit director Dan Bradley(Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol). 
The move comes as analysts have been knocking Viacom's Nickelodeon division for lower ratings. TheNinja Turtles project, a joint Paramount-Nickelodeon production, was eyed as a chance to bolster Nickelodeon as well as reboot a family film franchise. The studio had paid  a hefty sum for rights to the property, which had been the basis for three hit movies for New Line Cinema in the 1990s. 
In May, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman touted the Ninja Turtles reboot in a call with investors. "Our pipeline is extremely strong," he said. "We're developing more new [episodes] of our popular series and more exciting new series. And of course, we're particularly excited about the revival of the [Teenage Mutant Ninja] Turtles franchise."

HORROR MOVIE: "La Casa Muda" (The Silent House) YIKES!!


This is playing right now on one of the HBO channels. I hadn't been paying attention because I have to work and can watch subtitled foreign films at the same time. Seemed kinda creepy, but then it sunk in that this movie is basically a completely terrified girl in a house with nothing but a lamp. And after a while I started to feel terrified and I didn't even know what was going on. So, I haven't really watched it, but so far the FEEL of it seems awesome! No music, very little talking. Just intense suspense.

So, have YOU seen it?

Is it as amazingly non-Hollywood horror as I hope it is? If so I'll try to watch it sometime. For now, I"m sorta paying attention and it's REALLY creepy still.
